Benjamin Kahle began his music career as a DJ at sixteen years old. He spent the next eight years entering DJ competitions, spinning at clubs and touring the country with platinum recording artists, like Incubus and Ricky Martin, and being the resident DJ on various television shows on MTV including MTV’s Beach House. During that time, he began making hip-hop tracks in his bedroom using a borrowed drum machine and a turntable. At 24, the musical director of a tour Ben was on approached him in a panic. “Ben, I just got hired to do four McDonalds commercials. I need hip hop beats, and you’re the only one I know who can make hip hop! Help!” Ben landed all four spots, and his career as a commercial composer began.
In 2006, after four years as a staff composer, Ben jumped ship and started his own company, Benjamin Kahle Music (BKM). In that time, BKM has created original music and unique sonic branding for clients such as Gatorade, Nike, Coke, Scion, Taylor Made Golf, Converse, Toyota, Target, Playstation, Cisco Systems and many more. Like a true Gemini, Ben’s creativity extends beyond music. In 2009, his iPhone app, “The Animalizer,” gained national attention and was featured on CNN, FOX, ABC, Wired, NBC and CBS. Most recently, Ben played a small role in the viral video and internet sensation, “Whole Foods Parking Lot”, which also attained national media coverage.
