I am Marcel Ziul – Creative Director at STATE Design. I was originally from Brazil, and am currently living in Santa Monica, CA.
I began my career in 2004 immediately after graduating from the Universidade do Vale do Paraiba. I worked at some of the top production companies in Brazil – Conspiracao Filmes, Mixer, Blackmaria. In 2007 I was selected as one of the “rising creatives in motion graphics” by Computer Arts Magazine (UK).
That same year I was invited to join the creative team at Belief Design in Santa Monica, CA. I packed up my life and moved to LA to work as an art director overseeing projects, design teams and the delivery of great quality work.
Fast forward two years. It was time to creatively challenge myself more – I entered the freelance world and pursued my strengths as an Art Director/Designer/Animator. It’s turned out to be the most amazing highlight of my career. I’ve collaborated with top companies, studios, and people from around the globe. In 2012 I was rewarded for my efforts by being nominated for an Emmy Award for “Outstanding Achievement in Main Title and Graphic Design.
My diverse work experiences have developed my aesthetic in delivering modern and sophisticated spots with unique detail and design.
When I’m not working, I ride my bicycle with The Fireflies West. If you drive around the westside or in Malibu, I’m sure you’ve seen me on the road!
